HIKING CROATIA
There is something special about Velebit Mountain that can’t be easily described. With its magnificent peaks, rich plant and animal life, remote mountain huts, and stunning views it’s a perfect place for nature lovers.
For this hiking adventure, we chose the famous Premuzic Trail that runs along the mountain ridge with the Adriatic Sea and islands stretching on one side and continental Croatia on the other.
The trail was built at the beginning of the 20th century and named after its constructor. It was engineered to provide gentle hiking without any steep ascents or descents which makes it suitable for everyone, even children.
The trail itself starts in the Northern Velebit National Park and passes through the most beautiful parts of the mountain. It’s 57 km (35 mi) long with mountain huts situated in perfect locations that allow 5-6 hours of hiking per day.

HIKING CROATIA
There is something special about Velebit Mountain that can’t be easily described. With its magnificent peaks, rich plant and animal life, remote mountain huts, and stunning views it’s a perfect place for nature lovers.
For this hiking adventure, we chose the famous Premuzic Trail that runs along the mountain ridge with the Adriatic Sea and islands stretching on one side and continental Croatia on the other.
The trail was built at the beginning of the 20th century and named after its constructor. It was engineered to provide gentle hiking without any steep ascents or descents which makes it suitable for everyone, even children.
The trail itself starts in the Northern Velebit National Park and passes through the most beautiful parts of the mountain. It’s 57 km (35 mi) long with mountain huts situated in perfect locations that allow 5-6 hours of hiking per day.
The trip starts with a drive to Zavizan peak at 1678 m (5505 ft), the beginning of Premuzic trail, and ends in Baske Ostarije, a small mountain village. This tour will be guided with additional vehicle support so you won’t have to carry all your things.
Breakfasts and dinners will take place in the accommodation and lunches will be picnic style. You will sleep in a traditional mountain hut, hostel, and possibly camp.

DETAILED ITINERARY
DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 1: Arrival and Start of Hiking
Your guide will pick you up in your accommodation in Zagreb/on the way to Zavizan (other locations on request) and drive to NP North Velebit where your adventure starts. We start early.
On the first day, you will hike from Zavizan to Alan hut and optionally climb Gromovaca peak to enjoy breathtaking views. The first part of the Premuzic trail passes through National Park Northern Velebit, which is one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Croatia with impressive rock formations.
You’ll finish the day in a traditional hut with a typical mountain meal and a golden Mediterranean sunset.
Hiking: 5-6 hours
Night: Alan mountain hut
Meals included: dinner
DAY 2: Hiking to a Mountain Shelter
After a good night’s sleep, you’ll enjoy a homemade breakfast and continue your hike through wild pastures and flowery meadows. You won’t be able to tear yourself away from your camera because of the beautiful views of the Adriatic coast and Croatian islands.
You will finish the hike in Skorpovac shelter where you will have two possibilities, sleeping inside or camping outside in the meadow. Your guide will prepare a delicious meal and together you will enjoy the serenity of Velebit mountain.

DAY 2: Hiking to a Mountain Shelter

DAY 3: Hiking to a Small Mountain Village
In the morning, after a well-deserved rest and a tasty breakfast, you will set off on your last day of this unforgettable adventure. Today is easy. You will hike through forests and wild pastures and enjoy even more amazing views this mountain can offer.
You will finish the hike in a charming mountain village Baske Ostarije, and have time to enjoy the silence and fresh mountain air. Another option is a short drive to the coastal town of Karlobag where you can swim in the sea and relax on the beach.
At the hostel where you’re staying, there’s a restaurant where you can have lunch after the hike.

Day 4: Departure
Today is your last day and time to say goodbye. After a delicious breakfast in a restaurant, your guide will drive you back to Zagreb or your next destination (on request).

NOTES ON PRICES
– Prices are fixed in Euros
If you wish to pay in another currency than the Euro, the exact value will be calculated according to the exchange rate of the Croatian National Bank on the day of booking.
– Children price: 6-12 years old
Please note that all children must be at least 6 years old and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to participate in Hut to Hut Hiking Croatia adventure.

DETAILS – Hut to Hut Hiking Croatia
- Group size: 2-8 persons (we usually work with small groups in order to provide high quality service, but we can also accommodate bigger groups on request).
- Feel free to contact us for a quote in case you are interested in a private trip.
- You are welcome to bring your own sleeping bag or rent it from us. The price of the rental is 20 € for the trip (3 nights).
- Meals: You’ll enjoy homemade meals at a mountain hut, and your guide will also prepare some of the meals. This tour includes all breakfast, dinners, and snacks throughout the day (fruit, power bar). Please let us know in advance if you are vegetarian, vegan, or have any special dietary requirements.
