DETAILED ITINERARY – Croatia Multisport Adventure Holiday

Day 1: Arrival to Zagreb

Arrival to Zagreb and transfer to your accommodation. In the evening we will meet for a welcome drink to get to know each other and talk about our upcoming adventure.

Zagreb is a lively capital with many interesting spots to visit, nice bars, restaurants and museums. If you have time, we suggest you arrive a day or two earlier to explore it on your own. Feel free to contact us for advice and travel arrangements.

Night: 3* hotel in Zagreb
Driving: 30 min from Zagreb airport
Day 2: Mreznica Canyon Kayaking

After a good night’s rest we start our first activity day and head south to explore the stunning nature of continental Croatia. The upper section of the Mreznica River hides a stunning canyon which we will have the chance to see from the best possible perspective – paddling in a kayak.

Due to its beauties and diversity, the Mreznica area should soon be categorized as a Nature Park. We use 2-person inflatable boats that are easy and safe to navigate. We will have breaks along the way and maybe jump off the waterfalls if you feel adventurous enough. After the trip we will head to Plitvice Lakes National Park surroundings where we will settle in one of the villages, feel the peaceful life in the Croatian countryside and prepare for tomorrow.

(Please note that in case of high water levels we use rafting boats.)

Night: 3* guesthouse in Plitvice National Park area

Day 3: Walking in Plitvice Lakes National Park

This morning we don’t have to go too far, we are just a short drive away from the oldest Croatian National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The sequence of 16 turquoise lakes linked together with beautiful waterfalls and travertine pools are really as beautiful as in the photos, even more. The lakes are surrounded by beech and pine forests and are home to extensive wildlife. We will walk by the lakes, past the waterfalls and the trails will occasionally lead us up to amazing viewpoints where you will be able to admire the complete picture of this amazing natural attraction.

Then we continue to one of the little coastal towns at the bottom of majestic Mount Velebit. We will spend the night there and enjoy the special energy that the fusion between the mountain and the sea creates.

Night: 3* guesthouse in Starigrad or surroundings
Driving: 10 min+2h; Walking: 5-6 hours
Day 4: Hiking in Paklenica National Park. Optional Rock Climbing.

Apart from being a paradise for hikers, Paklenica is a worldwide known climbing destination due to its amazing rock formations. If you prefer, you can also decide to rock climb instead of hike (optional*).

Paklenica National Park encompasses one of the most beautiful parts of Velebit Mountain – the small and the big Paklenica canyons and their surrounding area. We will hike the big one (Velika Paklenica) and make our way to one of the nicest huts in the canyon.

The evening will be spent enjoying some free time in Zadar, a city on the coast with interesting Roman and Venetian ruins, medieval churches, cosmopolitan cafes and restaurants.

Day 5: Cycling in Krka River National Park

With its seven travertine waterfalls and a total drop of 242 m, the Krka River is one of the most beautiful natural and karst phenomena in Croatia. It has been protected as a National Park due to its very rich and diverse living world, with numerous endemic, rare and threatened species. The main attractions are the big Skradinski Buk waterfall, the small island of Visovac with a Franciscan monastery and the Roski waterfall. We will explore the area by bike, which is a great and time-saving way to see the many beauties that can be found along Krka’s shores.

After the trip we head to Trogir, an authentic medieval coastal town with a historical core proclaimed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. You will have the evening to walk around its narrow streets, have a drink on one of the lovely terraces or visit the market.

Night: 3* hotel in Trogir
Driving: 1h30; Cycling: 4 hours
Day 6: Split visit. Walking along Ston walls on Peljesac Peninsula.

Not far from Trogir awaits the famous city of Split with its imposing Roman ruins – the Diocletian’s Palace with rich and interesting history dating back to the 4th century. After some free time in Split, we continue down south to the Peljesac Peninsula.

We will explore the charming town of Ston on Peljesac and its impressive stone walls (more info here). The area is famous for growing oysters and mussels. If you want you can take an optional boat tour to one of the oyster farms to learn about this local tradition and enjoy oyster tasting and lunch. Peljesac Peninsula is the also one of the most famous wine making regions in Croatia so we definitely recommend trying some local wines.

And last but not the least, we arrive to Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will settle in one of the surrounding villages for two nights.

Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan are 3 inhabited islands of the Elafiti archipelago not far from Dubrovnik. Weather and time permitting, we will choose one of them as our base for sea kayaking along the shores and amazing cliffs. Since this south part of the Adriatic Sea is especially blue and clean, you will probably not resist taking a swim. The smell of pine trees, charming island villages with beautiful stone houses and colorful gardens are also the highlights of this trip.

We will spend the evening in Dubrovnik where you will get a chance to walk down its famous promenade Stradun, admire the mighty walls and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere. To celebrate our adventure, we will have a final dinner together and exchange experiences before saying goodbye to our fellow travelers.

Night: 3* guesthouse in a village near Dubrovnik
Driving: 20 min each way; Sea kayaking: 3-4 hours
Day 8: Departure

Today is the last day of our Croatia Mutisport Adventure Holiday and we transfer you to the airport, bus station or your next hotel.

If you wish to spend more time in Dubrovnik, we recommend you extend your stay for a few days on your own. There are definitely many things to see (Dubrovnik walls walk, visit of Lokrum Island Reserve, cable car to Srd Mountain, nearby Montenegro…) and it’s worth the extension.
